01 / Context
The opportunity
SOFTGAMES’ game teams needed common services for data, growth, live operation and reliability. Studio Business Services brought those needs into a shared product remit, supporting multiple teams through reusable backend capabilities, analytics infrastructure and internal tools while addressing legacy infrastructure and operational visibility.
02 / Responsibility
My role in the work
As Product Owner of Studio Business Services from October 2019 to June 2022, I built and led the technical product team responsible for shared backend, data and platform capabilities. I balanced platform development, technical debt, reliability and changing needs from game teams. The role was concurrent with Taskforce production and, during 2021, Bubble Shooter Pro responsibility.
03 / Decisions
What I focused on
Built the Data Warehouse and analytics capabilities that enabled custom product reports, churn analysis, game-economy insights and automated KPI reporting.
Defined and delivered a centralized cross-promotion platform supporting both new-game launches and growth of existing titles.
Led shared backend services for game servers, databases, game assets and communication, with monitoring and alerts for operational visibility.
Led a notification platform designed to scale dynamically and recover automatically, creating architecture and DevOps patterns adopted by other projects.
Drove migration toward Infrastructure as Code, made infrastructure costs visible at project level and implemented optimization opportunities.
04 / Outcomes
What changed
- Enabled product teams to create custom reports and decision-support tools using shared data and analytics.
- Provided reusable growth, communication and live-operation capabilities across the game portfolio.
- Improved operational visibility and created infrastructure and DevOps patterns adopted across other studio projects.
05 / Leadership
The scope of the work
This role extended product responsibility beyond a single game. It required organizing a specialist team around shared capabilities, assessing the needs of multiple product teams, and balancing new functionality with reliability and technical debt. The platform work made decisions and operations more accessible across the studio, connecting technical investment to game-team needs.
